Ladies, if you are new to the Village and love the game of golf or you have been here awhile and are now thinking about joining a league, consider the "WGA 18-Hole League."
Our league welcomes all ladies with handicaps from 0 to 36 (30.5 max index). A current official handicap card from any association is accepted to join, but to participate in play day events members must have an official USGA GHIN handicap and post at least five scores from Village courses.
League play starts in early April and continues nearly every Thursday through October playing different courses with events and games designed to bring out the enjoyment of golf for all levels of competition. Our mixed couples’ event with dinner and an awards party afterwards is always a favorite. No matter what your handicap you only play against your own level of expertise. Points are awarded each week for these events and credit is added to your POA card and awarded at the fall luncheon.
In addition to the weekly events we also have four special tournaments each year for you to participate in. The first is held in the spring, which is our Handicap Tournament. This tournament is played using your GHIN handicap. The player with the best score after two days of play on two different courses is our Handicap Champion. The second tournament is our Invitational, named "The Margaret Griffin Invitational," where you may invite a friend from anywhere to play with you and compete as a team on two of our great courses. This tournament is a flighted 4-ball format. Our fall Club Championship is played on three different courses over three days and uses no handicap. This tournament names our champion for the year and names a winner in each flight. We also have a two-day Member/Member match play flighted format event which is played shortly after the end of the season. This was a new tournament in 2007 and has become one of our most popular events.
Membership forms may be obtained on this site (click on Application tab) and at all golf course WGA bulletin boards beginning January 1, except at Coronado. To find out about handicaps click on this link:
